Dredging + Fishery Management + Shoreline Repair
Digging Deep: Dredging Preserves our Waterbodies.

Services We Offer

1
DREDGING
During dredging sediment and nutrients are removed that are harmful to water bodies. The organic matter builds up from decomposing leaves, erosion, and debris that turns into available nutrients. Resulting in poor water quality, algae blooms, and fish kills. Learn how dredging can save your pond or lake.
2
FISHERIES MANAGEMENT
Kirby Fisheries recommends an initial fish survey to use data to ensure success for your fishery. We develop a specialized fish stocking plan, designed for your personal goals. Whether you need initially stocking or corrective stocking, let Kirby Fisheries help you maintain a healthy fish balance.
3
VEGETATION CONTROL
Managing vegetation is a headache and a ponds biggest challenge. Proper vegetation control affects recreational appeal, aesthetic, and fishability. Lack of vegetation control negatively affects water quality, aesthetic, and living organisms. Learn how Kirby Fisheries can keep your body of water in good health.
Why Beach Reclamation is Essential for Your Property.

-
Beaches offer enjoyment and relaxation, but maintaining their health is vital due to natural erosion that impede on shoreline stability.
-
Improve landscape by replenishing sand, repairing shoreline, and appeal = increase in lot value.
-
The technique of sand dredging restores the natural aesthetic and recreational utility of beaches.
-
Make lake days more enjoyable and relaxing with a brand-new beach.
Why Dredging Improves Recreation Activities.

-
Increase in water depth allows for safer watercraft activities and more available habitat to support fish populations.
-
Improved shorelines increase fishable areas.
-
Restores water quality for healthier and potentially bigger fish.
-
Decreases algae for more enjoyable swimming and fishing.
-
Improves water aesthetic by reducing nutrients that make the water brown.
-
Removes muck that makes the pond stink.
Why Stormwater Ponds are Important to Maintain.

-
Basins are used to capture potential pollutants such as, fertilizers, silt, and debris. Overtime, solids buildup on the bottom of the basin decreasing stormwater holding capacity.
-
Removal is needed to increase water capacity and reduce potential floods.
-
-
If not maintained, pollutants can runoff and enter our streams, rivers, and potentially contaminate our groundwater.
-
Stagnant water will cause smell and brown tint to water.
-
Public can benefit from appealing landscape with abundant wildlife.
Why You Should Implement Floating Wetlands on Your Body of Water.

-
Improve look of your landscape with flowering life.
-
Several designs and features.
-
Attract wildlife such as: butterflies, dragon flies, birds, and pollinators.
-
Increase uptake of nutrients in the water = less algae.
-
Improve fishery with quality habitat and abundance food source (bugs).
-
Floating platforms are anchored, but with slack to adjust to water levels.
DREDGING FEATURES
Designed for Efficient Waterway Maintenance
The mini dredge is a versatile option for open water and tight spaces around docks, marinas, and water canals. These compact machines are largely impactful where larger dredges may be impractical or too costly. They are highly valuable in their ability to remove sediment, debris, and weeds without disturbing surrounding environment. This allows for no damage to our customers lawn or shoreline.
Immense Benefits
Dredging is an essential part of lake and pond maintenance that improves the health of aquatic ecosystems, as well as maintaining aesthetic appeal. By getting rid of dead vegetation, sludge/muck, and other debris, this helps prevent flooding, improve water quality, and support native wildlife. In result of runoff, excess nutrients enter the waterbody causing growth of unwanted plants and algae that deplete oxygen from the water. Overall, dredging is an impactful and effective tool when managing a waterbody and vegetation control.
Application
Designed for applications up to 8,000 cubic yards at operating rates of 20-40 cu yds/hr. (surface area of a F-150 truck). The dredge can pump sediment from 14ft depths and up to 500ft away from site, at maximum flow of 350 gpm. The dredge is effective at moving sand, silt, and muck. The dredge also makes for easy transport and launch. The mini dredge is ideal for small marinas, beach reclamation, residential ponds, or waterway rehabilitation.
Economic Sustainability
Kirby Fisheries equipment is more affordable than heavy equipment due to less manpower and fuel costs. It is not possible for the dredge to excavate thousands of cubic yards of material in a short period. The dredge is an efficient alternative to machinery such as: back hoes, excavators, and drag lines. These methods are expensive, have limited reach, and destructive to shore.
